In Jiangyin port, the width of the water area is 15km, and the maximum natural water depth is 19m. Jiangyin port possesses Nanri Ship Channel, and Xinghua Ship Channel. The natural water depth and surface width of the ship channels are 15.5-17.2m, and 360m, respectively, which fully satisfies the navigating, docking, and turning demands of large vessels of over 200,000t capacity. Jiangyin port is surrounded by Longgao peninsular, Shicheng Peninsular, and Nanri Archipelago. Relying on this geographical advantage, Jiangyin port has a great shelter and inward / outward capacities of large vessels throughout the year. The first construction blueprint of Jiangyin port consists of extending the coastline to 14.6km, and building up 55 quay berths with the largest capacity of 250,000t, which includes 19 container berths, 22 general berths, and 14 chemical berths.

By now, 5 container berths with tonnage of 100,000t, a ro/ro berth with tonnage of 15,000t, and a coal berth with tonnage of 70,000t for the Guodian Corporation have been established. Two container berths with tonnage of 100,000t, and a chemical berth with tonnage of 50,000t are under construction. Besides, there are 5 container berths with tonnage of above 50,000t, a  chemical berth with tonnages of 50,000t, 4 large bulk terminals, and a direct passenger terminal to Taiwan are under the early preparation. The container handling capacity of Jiangyin port has been increasing rapidly, from 10,000 TEU in 2003, topped 510,000TEU in 2009. Thereafter, Fuzhou International Container Terminal (FICT) has been awarded as the ‘Chinese freight industry top ten container ports’ for its ‘multiple services, applied technology, and work efficiency’ during three continuous years.



Since the construction of the West-Taiwan Strait Economic Zone has become our state policy, FJEDZ started to highlight the advantages of closing to Taiwan and expand the fields of cooperation. As an economic growth area in the West-Taiwan Strait Economic Zone, FJEDZ owns the perfect natural port, the wide land, and the huge market. As a plus, strengthen the port communication and cooperation will be extremely beneficial to the economy development of both sides of the Taiwan Strait. After the Cross Strait Express goes into operation, it will only two and a half hours from FJEDZ to Taipei, 24 hours economic cycle of Taiwan Strait will be quickly forms.

As a first-class national port, Jiangyin port has opened more than 20 international routes such as America West, West Africa, Europe, Japan, Korean, Middle East, Southeast Asia, as well as Hong Kong, Mainland-Taiwan-Hong Kong, Taiwan direct route, and several domestic trade routes as well. The ships or containers of several international navigation tycoons for example Maersk, MSC, CMA, Evergreen Marine, STX Pan Ocean, Zhonghai, Wanhai, Cosco, Kline, Yangming, APL, HMM, MOL, KMTC, Italia Marrittina, PIL, and Orient Overseas are already operated in Jiangyin port. In prospective, Jiangyin port will build up 15 berths upon the tonnage of 50,000t by 2015, which has the annual capacity of handling 5 million standard containers. Moreover, it is equipped with the facilities of storing bulk cargo and dangerous chemicals. It will soon become a scale-up intensive port, one of the ten main coastal ports in China and a world-class container port.
